Swimming/Waterparks
I would recommend planning for a day trip when concidering to go swimming...
Steinbach Aquatic Centre
Lazy River
Definatly worth the trip to Steinbach!
Very impressed with the very clean and large changing rooms, which include a special needs room and family change rooms.
You can choose between just the outdoor pool or opt for the entire centre (highly recommend do both). The two areas are easily accessible and you can go in and out as much as you want.
The indoor pool has a large lap pool, large heated kiddie pool, lazy river, hot tub, sprayers and large water slide.
This facility is fun for the entire family for several hours!

Lilac resort
Lilac resort has something for everyone!
You can camp or rent a hotel room for the weekend, but this needs to be reserved several months in advance.
You can visit Lilac Resort for the day. If you are visiting someone currently registered as a guest, you do not need to pay a one time membership fee of $10. You do however pay for a day pass which is $14.00 each. This gives you access to all ammenties.
The resort has a Jamaican theme with palm trees and underwater animal slides and sprayers. There are 3 pools in total. A heated kiddie pool with slides and umbrella fountain and sprayers, a heated activity pool with mid sized slides, baskeball hoops and lily pad bridge and the largest pool with 3 large slides.
There are 5 hot tubs in total. One is situated by the large pool with the rest up on the juice bar deck.
Bring a packed lunch (alcohol permitted) or enjoy food bought at the consession. There are lots of tables with umbrellas on deck and sit back and relax while you listen to live bands playing on weekends.
If you have left the kids at home, you can stay into the evening hours and enjoy a non alcoholic margarita from the the juice bar, relax in the hot tubs or dance to the live music on the deck.
This place is a must on a hot day!!!!

Portage La Prairie
Portage la Prairie has a nice outdoor waterpark for the whole family. Splash Island has slides for kids of all ages, sprayers and a lazy river.
There is not much shade however on those really hot and sunny days, so bring a hat.
To make this day trip really worth while; plan on some strawberry picking at Connery farms and visit Island Park where you might see some deer and can take a stroll along the river.

Winnipeg
PanAm Pool
There are several city owed and operated indoor and outdoor pools in Winnipeg, but frankly they need some upgrading and renovating.
If you have small children (under 5 years) then my only recommendation would be the PanAm pool. It has a heated kiddie pool, an umbrella fountain and a small slide, but no activities to keep the kids entertained for more than an hour.
If the weather is hot, you can concider visiting the city owned Dakota St pool in St Vital. The water is cold, but there are sprayers, a play structure situated in the pool and there is a nice grassed seating area.
Check out the city of Winnipeg website for more info....
